Range Response First Aid Class

What: Range Response First Aid Course

When: March 30 or March 31

Cost: $175, payable on class day

This course is designed for Range Officers, Match Directors, Firearm Instructors, or anyone that spends their weekend out on the range. In this course we will train those individuals on the firing line how to identify and treat common illnesses/injuries which occur at an indoor & outdoor range.

Not only will students learn how to identify and treat life-threatening injuries; but also how to implement range SOP’s dealing with those and other related injuries. During the training each student will learn through hands-on skills practice, scenario-based training, and lecture how to deal with medical emergencies. 

Here are some of the subjects covered in class:

• Medical & Legal Issues
• Preventive measures for a range; establishing a Range Response Team, etc.
• Medical equipment and selection
• Patient assessment
• Identify and treat severe bleeding; arterial bleeds, GSW’s
• Proper use of tourniquets, pressure dressings, hemostatic agents
• Identify and treat for shock
• Identify and treat penetrating chest injuries; sucking chest wounds, tension   pneumothorax
• Environmental emergencies
• Heat injuries; heat exhaustion, stroke
• Caleb’s “almost famous dehydration lecture”
• Identify and treat thermal burns
• Identify and treat eye injuries; impaled object, foreign object, proper irrigation.
