Precision Pistol, formerly known as Conventional Pistol, and before that known as Bullseye Pistol (and Bullseye is what many people still call it). If you like using a handgun to poke holes in paper with no purpose except to see how well you can do it, then Precision Pistol may be the sport for you.

Traditionally shot standing (no support except your own body), holding your pistol with one hand, shooting at targets 25 & 50 yards away. Even with generous size targets it should be obvious that "Bullseye" refers to what we are shooting at, not necessarily what most of us are hitting.

Performing at even an average level requires a strong focus on the fundamentals of shooting - sight alignment, sight picture, and trigger control. No matter how you score the skills developed shooting Precision Pistol carry over to all other shooting sports.

"Just for Fun" Match

Here at MSA we shoot two separate matches simultaneously. Each competitor chooses whether to shoot the NRA Approved Precision Pistol Match or the "Just for Fun" match.

The "Just for Fun" match is shot on the same firing line as the NRA match, following the same course of fire but each "Just for Fun" competitor can choose whether to shoot using one hand, two hands, or using the bench as a rest. You can also choose whether to shoot at 25 & 50 yards, or shoot the entire match at 25 yards. It's a great way to get started in Precision Pistol without the need for a high-end target pistol and without the additional pressure of one-handed shooting.
